Compulsory for all employers to subscribe Employees’ Compensation Insurance for their employees, to cover occupational accidents (including fatal) and occupational diseases arising out of and in the course of their employment.
In accordance with the Decree-Law no. 40/95/M of 14th August 1995 (Employees’ Compensation Insurance Ordinance), it is compulsory for all employers to subscribe Employees’ Compensation Insurance for their employees, to cover occupational accidents (including fatal) and occupational diseases arising out of and in the course of their employment.
Also, in accordance with the Law no. 6/2015, as from 29 August 2015 employers need to provide employees’ compensation insurance for covering travelling directly between employee’s place of residence and place of employment within a period of 3 hours before the time of commencement of employee's working hours or after the time of cessation of working hours during typhoon signal no. 8 or above.

Caused by accidents occurred during work or occupational diseases:
Death
The cash lump-sum compensation is calculated according to the age and monthly salary of the domestic helper as at the accident date, subject to a minimum compensation of MOP 340,200.00 and a maximum of MOP1,134,000.00
Funeral Expenses
The cash lump-sum compensation is equal to 30 days of the domestic helper’s income as at the accident date, subject to a minimum compensation of MOP 4,600.00 and a maximum of MOP17,800.00.
Total Permanent Incapacity for Work
The cash lump-sum compensation is calculated according to the age and monthly salary of the domestic helper as at the accident date, subject to a minimum compensation of MOP 425,250.00 and a maximum of MOP1,417,500.00 in case of total permanent incapacity. Coverage is also provided in case of partial permanent incapacity, subject to the domestic helper’s degree of incapacity and with different limits of coverage.
Temporary Incapacity for Work
The cash lump-sum compensation is equal to 2/3 of the domestic helper's monthly earnings during the period of treatment and recovery, subject to a maximum of 24 months. Coverage is also provided in case of partial temporary incapacity, subject to the domestic helper’s reduction in working incapacity.
Medical Expenses
The limit of medical expenses in relation to the domestic helper’s occupational accident or occupational disease is as high as MOP3,150,000.00, which includes, but is not limited to, general and specialized medical and surgical assistance, pharmaceutical assistance, nursing attendance, hospitalization, functional rehabilitation, etc. For consultation outside Hospital, the coverage is as high as MOP300 per day.
Prosthesis Fitting or Orthopaedic Appliances Expenses
For initial fitting expenses, coverage is subject to a maximum compensation of MOP24,800.00. For repair and replacement expenses, coverage is subject to a maximum compensation of MOP74,600.00 within a period of 10 years from the date of initial fitting.

Basic Premium
The basic annual premium of the Domestic Helper EC insurance policy is calculated based on the domestic helper’s annual total income and the applicable premium rate of 0.69%.
Basic Premium = Annual Total Income X 0.69% X (1 – NCB%), which is subject to a minimum premium amount of MOP345
Additional Cover: Travelling To and From During Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Above
Concerning the additional cover "Travelling To and From During Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Above", the additional premium is calculated based on the domestic helper’s annual total income and the applicable premium rate of 0.25%
Additional Premium = Annual Total Income X 0.25% X (1 – NCB%)
Additional Cover: Journey To and From Workplace
Concerning the additional cover "Journey To and From Workplace", which excludes the situations covered by the additional cover "Travelling To and From During Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Above" stated above, the additional premium is calculated based on the domestic helper’s annual total income and the premium rate of up to 0.10%
Additional Premium = Annual Total Income X Premium Rate X (1 – NCB%)
No Claim Discount
For policies with no claims in a policy year, a No Claim Bonus (NCB) will be offered in the subsequent year. This NCB can be accumulated by year, starting from 10% up to a maximum of 20% in annual incremental of 5%.
