Fidelidade Macau sponsored a Portuguese School of Macau (EPM) Environmental Project, organized by Teacher Andreia Ramos. As part of this project three environmental associations: Macau Econscious, Macau Waste reduction and Greens – Philippines Migrant Workers Union received a donation to support their activities, during a ceremony that took place last June 4th at the Portuguese School auditorium.
The Environmental Project started with a drawing competition related to the sustainability, and was made between students from the 1st to the 7th grade, where the best of each class would have their design printed on an eco-friendly bag. These eco-friendly bags were produced under the sponsorship of Fidelidade Macau and sold, in order to raise funds to support the three chosen environmental associations. However, the main goal was to make the population aware of its use and thus boosting the reduction of plastic bags usage.
With the school reopening after the COVID-19 prevention period, it was then possible to organize a ceremony to hand over the funds to each of the associations’ representatives. The ceremony had the presence of the Portuguese School of Macau Management, namely Dr. Manuel Machado and Dr. Zélia de Oliveira Baptista and Fidelidade Macau Executive Committee, led by its CEO, Dr. Paulo Barbosa and the Executive Director, Dr. Ivan Cheung.
During the ceremony, the EPM President and the CEO of Fidelidade Macau reinforced the importance of educating the new generations for the preservation of Nature and the Environment, setting an example also for older generations, in a region where environmental awareness for such important issues that impact the daily lives of all its inhabitants, is still taking its first steps.
Fidelidade Macau, aware of its social responsibility towards local communities and environmental initiatives, thank the opportunity to participate in this project with the Portuguese School of Macau.
